April 2020 Newsletter

Dear Members and Friends,

How much things can change in a month. I know that the last few weeks have been challenging for many of us as we have had to decide, often at short notice, which country to stay in for the next few months of global disruption. Whether you have stayed here in the United Kingdom, or returned to family and friends in Australia I hope that you are able to continue participating in our community as we face this unprecedented challenge.

Our friends and colleagues in the Australian High Commission here in London and at the British High Commission in Canberra have been working around the clock supporting those who would like to return home. You can find out more on their websites here for Australians in the UK, and here for Brits in Australia.

I want to reassure you that the team and I are still here and working hard to ensure that the Britain-Australia Society comes out the other side of this slowdown stronger than ever. We are using this period to build our network and plan our events calendar until the end of 2021 to ensure that we have lots of exciting announcements once we are all allowed outside again!

I'm also delighted to welcome our newest Corporate Member, bdhSterling, one of the leading financial advisors focussed on pension transfers between the United Kingdom and Australia. I know their advice will be more important than ever as we look to the economic recovery on the other side of the current slowdown.

Best wishes,

Damian J. Walsh

Chairman
