September 2019 Newsletter

Updated: Apr 9, 2020

Dear Members and Friends,

I hope that you have had an enjoyable and restful summer break, whilst there may have been fewer events over the summer months, the Britain-Australia Society has been making some big and exciting changes. I'm really pleased to announce that we have a new website ready to launch this coming Monday 16 September. Those of you who are currently members will receive an email on Monday with details of how to log-in to the new site, and I hope all of our friends and supporters will visit the new site next week. I am sure you will be as impressed as I have been with the bright, modern design and the ease of use. As part of these changes the Board have also agreed to reduce the number of membership categories from six to three in order to streamline administration for our members and the office. Any changes to members' existing categories will only be applied from their renewal dates, but please do not hesitate to get in touch with the office if you have any questions. On a sad note, our dedicated Assistant Director, Nathaniel Hayward will be leaving his role with the Society after almost two years of valuable service to move onto an exciting new role with the Law Society. I am sure you will all join me in wishing him the best of luck in his future endeavours and we will all hope to see him at future events. As Nate departs, I am delighted to welcome Marina Kinsman to the Society. Marina will be coming into a new position as the Administrative, Membership and Events Executive with a real focus on what makes the Society special, our members and friends who support us in strengthening the relationship between our two countries. Marina will be joining us on Monday 23 September for our reception at Norton Rose Fulbright, details of which are below. I know she is looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible over the next few months. As well as the website and the staffing changes, B-AS team has been busy arranging a number of exciting new events for the second half of 2019. Read on below to find out more about the events calendar and to book your places. Kind regards, Damian J. Walsh Chairman
